3 tips for brand collaborations

As events organisers, we create dinners parties, drinks soirees and themed parties for our Luxe Club guests to network, socialise and connect.

For our Mayfair Networking drinks evening on Thursday 13th February at the exclusive Isabel in the heart of Mayfair, we were looking for a drinks sponsor to collaborate with.

We discovered Laplandia vodka via social media, a super premium vodka in a beautifully designed bottled with a 24k gold design.

Our 3 tips for collaborating with other brands are:

1. Connect with the team behind the brand

When we met with the London team behind the Laplandia vodka brand, we felt there was a great connection and it was immediate to see shared values, largely that the embodied the luxury brand they were representing.

2. Long term partnerships

We are very focused on building long term relationships with brands, and communicated this to Laplandia vodka.

As we are well connected in Mayfair, working with many luxury venues to organise events, we want to introduce our brands to our these venues as well as our guests who attend our events.

3. Social media marketing

We are very focused on social media marketing when promoting our events.

When collaborating with brands, it’s important to promote these brands alongside our marketing for the event, and tag the brand.

It creates a buzz around the collaboration in advance of the event and raises awareness of the brand to your network and followers.

3 tips for branding

When planning a product launch for our client, branding was required to be clearly visible throughout the event.

Here are our key tips for branding your product or service:

1. Flower walls

When guests walk into events they enjoy having their photograph taken against a beautiful backdrop.

Although media boards are great when you have sponsors wanting to showcase their logos, a flower wall increases the chances of that photo being shared on social media.

With your logo visible on the flowerwall, this is an excellent way to reach to more potential customers.

2. Goody bags

When planning events, sometimes goody bags are often overlooked until the last few days when there is often a panic for putting these together.

Our guests love receiving goody bags! And if the branding is done correctly, the company will benefit hugely from customers sharing images carrying the bag.

We ensured our professional photographer at the event took photos of the guests carrying the goody bags which we shared on social media, tagging the guests.

3. Branded food

At a champagne and canapés event for our client recently , we suggested mini cupcakes with their branding.

The chef at the hotel created these (pictured below) which looked absolutely beautiful and tasted great too!

Again, a professional photographer would capture this better than photos taken on phones but either way, exposure on social media can lead to a bigger reach for your brand.

The 3 branding ideas brought life to the event, generated multiple photo opportunities for guests and these images could be shared by all, creating more buzz after the event.

2020: A wealth of opportunities

We at The Luxe Club are very excited to welcome 2020, a new year as well as a new decade.

Over the Christmas break, we consolidated our business of luxury events to form a social club for our network to connect and socialise in Mayfair and Knightsbridge.

Only a few days into launching The Luxe Club and we’ve received requests to collaborate and grow with other like-minded luxury brands.

There is a wealth of opportunities available in the luxury market for all brands but we think the key to success is providing a service or product that is required by the market.

And we’re excited.

Social media is a tool we use every day. If we are not posting about what our business is doing, we are commenting and liking our friends and colleagues posts. It’s free to do and a small encouraging like or word on someone’s post could lead to a door opening for them or you.

Networking events are plentiful in London. We use eventbrite to search and schedule at least one a week. There really is no excuse. And we arrive early to events, talk to a few guests and say hello to the host before leaving. We are never the last to leave! It can get tiring.

Business cards are carried by us always. It’s not a case of handing them out and receiving others without action. Follow up is essential. Always remember that there are opportunities that present us daily and without action they are missed.

A wealth of opportunities are waiting for all of us and we wish you a successful year ahead! We hope to welcome you to one of our luxury events soon!

Do get in touch to discuss any collaborations as our network is over 1,400 members who are mainly UK based and high net worth.

3 networking tips learnt in 2019

Every day there’s a networking event or two taking place around London.

If I’m not hosting my own event, I’m attending other company’s events.

Networking is important to grow our connections.

After you’ve accepted an invite to attend a networking event, here are my top 3 tips to ensure you get the results you desire.

1. Introduce yourself to the host

Treat the networking event as you would a friend’s party.

Say hello to the host and introduce yourself, your company and thank them for hosting the event. No-one wants a sales pitch immediately on introduction! It’s off putting.

The host may then be kind enough to introduce you to nearby guests or you may politely excuse yourself and start to network.

2. Video and photos for Social media

It’s important to support the event you are attending and an effective (and free) way is to take videos and photos of the event.

An image or video is worth a thousand words!

And Instagram or linked is a great place to to share these, again tagging the event organisers and certain key people you met and would be interested in pursuing as good connections.

These posts may be shared by others and reach a far wider audience than just your network and shows you support and appreciate attending that event.

Doors may also open for other invitations to such events.

3. Follow up

All business cards picked up at the event should be followed up.

Email is the most professional way but more often these days, Whatsapp is an informal yet effective way to connect following an event.

A coffee should be arranged in the diary shortly after to seize the opportunities to discuss what was touched on when you initially met.

As we come to the end of the year, most of our networking events should be ending.

Take time to recharge, relax and reflect on the year passed and I hope we can connect in 2020, either at my networking events or the many others taking place every day.

Happy Christmas and wishing you all a prosperous New Year.

Best wishes,

Salima Manji

Michelin-star fine dining and networking

We started Luxe Lunches in 2018, over 14 months ago as we wanted to connect ladies in our network over great food.

Each lunch that we planned at fabulous restaurants in Mayfair and Knightsbridge brought together more and more exceptional ladies who became friends, and some have gone further and collaborated in business ideas.

But something was missing.

Exceptional ladies yet the restaurants we selected were chic but just “nice”.

We want only the very best for our elegant ladies. Which is why we are moving to Michelin-star restaurants in 2020 to bring fine dining restaurants to those who also adore luxury dining.

Our first lunch of 2020 begins at Seven Park Place by William Drabble, situated at the five star St James’s Hotel and Club, behind the Ritz Hotel.

Date: Wednesday 15 January 2020

Time: 13.00

We are thrilled to welcome our ladies to this luxury experience and an elegant way to connect with others from our network.

Mindset for success: 3 ways to achieve your goals

When friends say “You’re so lucky” in relation to my career progression, I’m reluctant to agree.

I contribute my success not to luck. I was born into a working class family and have become self-made not through luck.

So how is it that I’m currently in Dubai, relaxing and enjoying the wonderful heat and luxurious hotels, restaurants and spas?

In one word: mindset. A positive mindset. One that is not limited to “I can’t achieve this” or “That’s way out of my reach and unrealistic.”

3 daily practices I use to ensure my mindset leads to success are:

Gratitude

I’m constantly grateful for all I have and all that I will be receiving.

It’s something we constantly read about but how do we practice? It just takes 5 minutes when you wake and 5 minutes before you sleep to do. And importantly, it sets the tone for the day when you focused on not what you are lacking (money, success, love) but what you are abundant in.

A sequence of events always follows from this practice to attract even more to you, which makes you more grateful!

Try it and see how this changes your mindset and then your life.

Positive friends/social circle

I’m a firm believer in “Your tribe affects your vibe.”

What I mean here is that those you associate with on a regular basis affect your frame of mind.

Look at who you are surrounded by, who you chose to socialise with, who you follow on social media and eliminate any negative people you see.

I enjoy the company of other successful women or women who strive for success. We support each other on our journeys and give each other positive words of encouragement.

These connections have been formed through networking, personal introductions and of course linked in!

Turn failures into lessons

I embrace “failures” as they always teach me invaluable lessons about myself. Not learning from failures and repeating failures will not lead to success of course.

Picking yourself up and changing the practices that lead to that failure will always develop your character and give you the strength to continue.

All entrepreneurs, including myself, have failed. I started luxury pop/ups 18 months ago and my first event didn’t bring the level of footfall I desired.

I promoted the event on social media and to my network so why didn’t I attract the number of visitors I wanted?

The venue was not luxury enough. The brands I selected were not all luxury. So I learnt. And changed everything. And it has worked. My last event at Nolita Social in Knightsbridge was a huge success, as will be my Luxury Christmas Shopping Day in two weeks.

I hope my insights have been useful for you to read and I look forward to seeing you at my networking and social events soon.

3 benefits of pop-up shops

Over the past year, my local high street in Fulham has seen many shop closures, often from small brands who could not afford the rents.

Sometimes, these empty shops become pop-up shops, temporary boutiques for a week, a month or even longer.

There are many benefits to brands showcasing their collections at pop-up shops:

    Affordable

Sharing the cost of a space not only saves a brand money but when you bring similar brands together, you create a boutique and offer customers choice.

  • 2. Brand awareness
  • You’ve left your career in Finance and set up a fashion brand and want to put this brand in front of potential customers. A pop-up allows you to do exactly this. Samples of your collection can be produced and displayed, allowing customers to give you invaluable feedback (and encouragement if they express a love for your brand)
    • 3. Collaborations
  • Bringing a few brands connects you to other entrepreneurs and can encourage brands who compliment each other to collaborate. Showcasing complimentary products together provides the customer with a bigger vision which may benefit both brands.
  • Luxury Designers Club have been organising luxury pop-ups in Mayfair and Knightsbridge, creating mini boutiques with fashion, jewellery and accessories designers.
  • Our next pop-up is on Thursday 5 December at the chic Bulgari Hotel (Nolita Social) and we hope you’ll attend a meet some incredible designers.
  • 3 tips for networking effectively

It’s been 11 years since I’ve been connecting people in London. It’s my passion.

As an Events organiser, I create the right ambiance to make networking easy for my guests and this involves choosing the right venue in the right location.

My events are close to public transportation links so no-one arrives late and flustered! Mayfair has always been my favourite area in London for this reason, as well as it being a more luxurious area of London!

A lounge bar which is chic and not to large is also important to successful networking, and Morton’s Private Members Club has a discreet lounge bar which has always worked for my guests to create new contacts.

So my top 3 tips for effective networking are:

    1. Presentation: It’s tiring to hear this but it’s true. First impressions count. So a well-fitting suit, smart shoes and a great scent will always be noted! We want to do business with someone who not only acts professionally but looks well put together.
    2. Listen: It’s more important to listen when connecting with a potential client than to talk a lot. When you listen you learn more about the other person, what they do, how their day has been, any issues they had during the day which your business or services may be able to assist with. If you can provide a benefit to that person, you then have the perfect opportunity to soft-sell your services. No hard sell! A simple swap of business cards would be a good conclusion before you both circulate the room.
    3. Follow up: You finish the networking event with 3-4 business cards. The next day is critical to follow up with an email and a suggestion to meet for coffee to discuss ways to collaborate or assist the potential client. Suggest a few dates and times and work to secure a meeting as soon as possible.

Networking is essential to all professionals and when done correctly, will bring new clients and business to you.

Wishing you all a successful week and hope to welcome you to one of my networking events soon.

Visit Luxe Lunches for upcoming events.

    London Fashion Week 2019

The up-and-coming fashion, jewellery and accessories designers showcasing at this year’s London Fashion Week pop-up are incredible.
